Did you know that...
- Only 11 per cent of office paper is recycled*, so almost 90 per cent goes to landfill. It then contributes to landfill gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane, which cause climate change.
- The average CBD office worker disposes of 10,000 sheets of paper per year.** This equals 20 reams and a massive 50kg of paper! If this paper is recycled with TreeHouse, it plants three tree seedlings per person per year.
- Not only does recycling office paper with TreeHouse result in trees being planted, every tonne of recycled paper also saves: 17 trees, two barrels of oil, 4100 kilowatts of energy (enough to power the average home for six months), almost two cubic metres of landfill space and more than 27kg of air pollution.***
- Much of Australia’s office paper is made from virgin forests. So-called ‘recycled paper’ is often simply the off-cuts from very large sheets of paper used by printers, which also come from virgin forests.
